According to Mr. James Pannell, President of the Caddo-Bossier Parishes Port Commission, "The Port of Shreveport-Bossier is dedicated to generating economic development in Caddo and Bossier parishes and to creating job and investment opportunities. As The Port becomes more and more successful in attracting new industry to the region, we wanted to provide our local contractors, workforce developing agencies and service providers with insight into how they may better participate in these economic opportunities as they arise."
"Although The Port staff has 17 full-time employees, the businesses and industries who move to and expand within The Port complex offer many, diverse career opportunities. And, although The Port does not participate in the hiring for these individual businesses, The Port is working closely with our tenants so that as career/job opportunities become available, The Port's website can communicate information regarding these employment opportunities," Pannell continued.
According to Port Commission Board Member, Michael Wainwright, "The Port Commission understands the importance of being poised for growth, especially when working to attract "smart industries." For that reason we continue to make improvements to The Port's infrastructure and increase its overall acreage. Now is also a great time to apprise area contractors, vendors and employment agencies of the processes and procedures The Port has in place for their participation."
There will be two workshops presented. One workshop will focus on opportunities for contractors and one will focus on general workforce development and service providers. The event is free and open to area businesses. Space is limited, so prior reservations are required.
The 2,200 acre Port of Shreveport-Bossier is located at the head of navigation on the Red River Waterway in Northwest Louisiana.
