Port Commission authorizes bond for Coca-Cola Bottling Company

The Caddo-Bossier Parishes Port Commission voted in favor of a resolution authorizing the issuance of Eleven Million Dollars ($11,000,000) of Caddo-Bossier Parishes Port Commission Taxable Revenue Bonds for the purpose of constructing, acquiring and improving capital facilities, including warehouse distribution facilities and capital improvements for the new Louisiana Coca-Cola Bottling facility located at the Shreve Park Industrial Campus in Shreveport, Louisiana.

The site and facility at the Shreve Park Industrial Campus will be acquired, constructed and installed to meet the needs and requirements of the Louisiana Coca-Cola Bottling Company. The facility and the site will be owned by the CBPPC and leased to Louisiana Coca-Cola Bottling Company.

According to the Shreveport Times, "The site will include a 100,000 square-foot building, of which 89,300 square feet will be used for warehouse space, with the remaining 10,700 square feet used for office space. According to Amber Ferchaud, spokeswoman for Coca-Cola, "The new building will be built to suit our specific needs making our operations more efficient." Coca-Cola needed the larger facility to accommodate its distribution operations in the area. Ferchaud said, The beverage company distributes about 6 million cases of its products to 2,000 customers in several area parishes, including Caddo, Bossier, DeSoto, Red River, Sabine, Bienville and Natchitoches."

Coca-Cola employs about 170 employees locally. Construction of the facility will create a total of 200 to 225 jobs for contractors and suppliers.
