FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE January 29, 2009
PORT COMMISSION NAMES OFFICERS Pannell, Hall and Miciotto selected to lead Port in 2009 SHREVEPORT, La. - The Board of Commissioners for the Caddo/Bossier Parishes Port Commission announced its officers Thursday afternoon at the board's regular meeting. James Pannell has been elected president for the second consecutive year. He previously served as vice president and Secretary/Treasurer. James Hall was elected vice president for the second year as well. He previously served as secretary/treasurer.
Ronald Miciotto was elected secretary/treasurer for another year. According to Pannell, "2008 proved to be an exceptionally busy year. We welcomed our newest industrial partner at The Port - Pratt Industries. Their Material Recycling Facility (MRF) and new waste paper recycling mill will be a $150 million dollar investment and will produce product for Pratt's own internal consumption. During the construction period alone, it is estimated that 1,695 new direct, indirect and induced jobs will be created. We remain focused on attracting and retaining industries to bring more jobs and total investment to The Port in 2009."
James Hall has served on The Port's Board of Commissioners since 2005. "In order to remain an ideal industrial site, The Port continually improves and expands its infrastructure. These improvements help us bring reliable energy, as well as more transportation options and improved accessibility to our tenants. I'm excited to be a part of this dynamic Port," Hall said.
Ronald Miciotto also joined the Commission in 2005. "To ensure The Port's continued growth, plans for land acquisition are currently being developed. Our Port continues to be one of the fastest growing inland ports in the nation and is a true economic engine for Northwest Louisiana." The 2,000 acre Port of Shreveport-Bossier is located at the head of navigation on the Red River Waterway in Northwest Louisiana. An inland multi-modal transportation and distribution center, The Port works hand in hand with the port system of Louisiana to successfully link customers throughout the Ark-La-Tex region to domestic and international markets via the Mississippi River, the nation's largest river system, and the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway.
