About The PortThe 2,000-acre Port of Caddo-Bossier is located at the head of navigation on the Red River Waterway in Northwest Louisiana, about four miles south of the city limits of the City of Shreveport. As an industrial park and inland multi-modal transportation and distribution center, the Port links customers throughout the Ark-La-Tex region to domestic and international markets via the Mississippi River, the nation's largest river system and the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway. Port History Since the 1830s, Shreveport has served as a major shipping point, moving bales of cotton, tobacco and furs. Today, The Port of Caddo-Bossier is still a major point of riverway transportation, housing more than 13 corporations who all know how well The Port works for them. The Port of Caddo-Bossier welcomed its first load of cargo in 1995 and has received more than 5 million tons of freight since that time.
