Looking Ahead
Regional Commerce Center
As The Port enters a new decade, 2010 will see the completion of our new Regional Commerce Center. This 32,000 square-foot facility will sit on 4 acres of land, overlooking the Red River and adjacent to the proposed I-69 corridor. Construction of the new facility will be completed in early 2011.
The Regional Commerce Center will have flexible meeting spaces and state-of-the-art conferencing capabilities, as well as meeting rooms that will be ideal for economic forums and regional conferences. It has been thoughtfully designed to meet the current and future needs of The Port, its business partners, and regional economic development interests.
Infrastructure Improvements
As we have grown, we have seen a tremendous increase in traffic at The Port site. In 2010, we will be developing and installing unified signage throughout The Port complex that will incorporate our new logo and attempt to facilitate efficient movement.
As The Port prepares to handle more industry, more infrastructure improvements are on the horizon.
- At the Port’s slack water harbor, a new dock and dock crane will be completed.
- The new Warehouse and Distribution Facility also will be completed.
Land Acquisition
The need for more land remains clear as our business partners continue to grow and expand, and as we receive more and more inquiries from industries from throughout the world. 2010 definitely needs to be a year for expanding the number of greenfield sites The Port will be able to offer prospective industrial partners.
Infrastructure Improvements
The Port’s Master Plan is being developed and will include an Economic Impact Analysis of all Port operations, as well as a Strategic Economic Development Component.
The Port’s major focus continues to be jobs and total investment. With the level of expansion of our current business partners, as well as our own operations and infrastructure improvements, 2010 has the potential of breaking records in both jobs and investment. As we begin this new year, there are more than a few major industries and site consultants taking a hard look at The Port of Shreveport-Bossier for their business expansion.
